Chet Atkins, who signed Connie to RCA Records in 1964, claimed "she had the finest Country voice I'd ever heard." George Jones cited Connie Smith as his favourite female singer in his 1995 autobiography. Elvis Presley had many Connie Smith albums in his collection at Graceland. A CMT (Country Music Television) poll ranked Connie Smith 9th in it's Top 40 Greatest Women of Country Music and she received the ultimate recognition of her achievements with induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2012.
