"Breathtaking debut from Easterly, a collection of lush
predominately acoustic, rootsy pop songs, filled with layered,
soothing, evocative vocals, dramatic arrangements and textural
studies, bolstered by incredible songwriting skills".
I met Noah Hall (singer/guitar) three years ago when he was
a music buyer at one of the stores I sell to…little did
I know when I first met him that he was pumping out amazing
pop songs…what a talent!! I've had copies of these songs
through their many stages of recording, and they have arrived
at pop perfection. I feel a lyrical and vocal familiarity to
Pedro the Lion, Elliott Smith, Joe Pernice, and John Cunningham
combined with the poppy and jangly guitar sounds of your favorite
power pop bands…blended with some really nice atmosphere…you
must hear it to believe it!!!
Oh, and when Noah was trying to find a name for the band….well…(I
copied this from their site)…
"The Story of Easterly…Angie said she always liked
the sound of directional names like the ones espoused by meteorologists
to describe weather patterns. Being from the West Coast, we
figured we’d get farther if we were called “Easterly.” That,
and we feared that “Noah Hall & Oats” might
bring lawsuits. Are we predictable like the weather? Weather
junkies watch weather – Music fans make music. That’s
how it started. Hopefully Easterly can’t be compartmentalized
by full color graphics on the back of USA Today, but, if we
can, hopefully the weather girl is pretty. "
… see…I
named them!!! :)
