This was the first Boy's Life album I picked up and it remains my favorite. Their preceding album is great, but it tends to have fewer songs that stir up the sonic punch that "Departures And Landfalls" is overflowing with. Every song on this album is strong. The first track, "Fire Engine Red" is especially beautiful, nostalgic, and powerful. Check this album out if Midwestern/languid guitar rock such as Castor, Zoom, and Shiner appeals to you.
