This
is the best and most diverse Swedish music compilation I've
come across so far...and I spent entire weekends with
it on repeat. Not only does it reinforce my love for bands
like The Bear Quartet, Isolation Years, Laakso, David & The
Citizens, Radio Dept., The Concretes, The Knife, and Fireside,
but it turned me on to acts like Franke (reverb-crazy guitar
rock), Moneybrother (the Swedish Bruce Springsteen), Paper
(Nuggetsy proto-garage, with Calle from Bear Quartet) and The
Embassy (luscious synthy retro-pop). Added incentives: The
Concretes track, "Forces", is only otherwise available
on a 2-track single. "Stop" by David & The Citizens
is a brilliant tune and previously available only as a download
single, first time on CD. So, quite possibly this is the path
to falling in love with your new favorite band...and where
else are you going to discover one relatively inexpensive assortment
of some of Jim's current and future favorite Swedish artists?
Check
out Franke's "Aldrig Forsta", which means "Never
Understand", hinthint.
