Lives of the
Saints
Muds
all-female smart-rock trio Beezus returns with the follow
up to their 1995 release Breakfast
Was Weird. Described by Puncture as "endearingly
unsheened", Beezus hangs on to "endearingly",
and adds just the right sheen to further highlight their
tender refrains and fierce amp-shiver.
On Lives of the Saints, fans
of the bands punk-folk style will be treated to more
strum & hum guitar shadow and girl-power seriousness. Check
out "Contender" and their cover of "Rebel
Girl" for proof. And, when they get all quiet on the
standout "Note Youll Never See", Beezus lulls
the unsuspecting into a blissful daze of hazy acoustic guitar
and flute. Recorded at Private Studios in Urbana by Brendan
Gamble of The Moon Seven Times, and produced by Brendan and
the band, Lives of the Saints delivers on the pop-grind
promise of Breakfast. |
