Allin, GG
Terror in America 1993
PS, US "After spending time in a NYC studio recording their final album together, GG was ready to continue his onslaught against society and anyone else who stood in his way. His anger had escalated and he was spiraling completely out of control. The tour kicked off in May and for a one month period we tore up the country like no band had ever done before. GG's animalistic behavior and vicious display of rage, chaos and total domination is more evident than ever during these performances. After viewing this DVD, you will understand why this was the most violent tour in the history of Rock & Roll."

Area C
Traffics + Discoveries
PS, US A broad spectrum of sound washes over you during the entirety of the album. There is never a dull moment, as each track takes on a separate dynamic realm & the songs themselves change shape, eliciting a stimulating listening experience. The 'dark' half features a sample from A.M. radio over a miasmic drone & gurgle, while the 'light' half sends us East with a chant heard at a temple in Taipei. It's a very delicate track, where the sound is sometimes reduced to a murmur.

Besties, The
Singer
PS, US Dagger Zine (US): Top 10 CDs for January, 2006. Skipping Stones Records released a few bands, including the Charade from Sweden (with members from the Shermans and Happydeadmen) and the Besties from Brooklyn, New York. 'Singer' is the first album by the trio, and it's really good to hear a band that plays happy and melodic indiepop the way it's supposed to ound....this is the best album so far this year. Intro (Germany): Not only does the album title show a charming simplicity, also the tracklisting reads wonderfully friendly: "Prison Song," "Western Song" or "Pirate Song" will free you from winter depression and post-holiday lethargy. They tell of forbidden love, outer-space fantasies and zombie lovers ("Zombie Song"). Sugar-sweet pop melodies with keyboard-sounds accompany the distant connection in the high north ("Sweden Song"). Marisa, Kelly and Rikky bring new brightness into your hut. One calls it indiepop, another "A New Generation of Twee Pop," and even another will
stick them in the Antifolk drawer with bands like Pantsuit. The Besties themselves call their melodies simply punkrock. Whatever, so long as you shake to their music, wiggle your bottom stylishly in the square indie disco or pogo in the scruffy youth-center: in any case you should not let yourself miss out on the two gals and the young man. Common Paper (Sweden): There's an echo of an All Girl Summer Fun band and somewhere in the genes there's of course Talulah Gosh. Somewhere in the second song there are hints of new stuff. The keyboards and the drum machine make the difference. There are "rock fills" intros and exciting synth sounds. The guitar feels fresh too cause there's more than the standard jangle. The Besties are bouncing their way through and if I'd have a chewing gum I would be chewing it on the beat. Cameron Deyhle (US): "The Besties are in the business of serving up sunshine infused twee laden milkshakes." Thee Power of Twee (Sweden): "keyboardpop with a quitar and l
ovely female vocals. Bubblegumpop twee, I love it."

Blow, The
Alphabet Series K
PS, DE The Blow, from Portland, is mainly Khaela Maricich who began following a folky lo-fi songwriter tradition. Since meeting up with Jona Becholt (who`s working solo as Y.A.C.H.T and more recently became the drummer for Devendra Banhart`s band) it has morphed into a very slick yet wimpy and charming kind of indie-R`n`B. After several EP`s and albums (incl. last year`s "Poor Aim: Love Songs" that brought the HIT of the year "Hey Boy"), now recording for Calvin Johnson`s K Records. We`re very happy that they had time to record a few EXCLUSIVE songs for the series.

Bragg, Billy
Life's A Riot W / Spy vs Spy
PS, US Re-issue of 1983's mini-LP that first introduced the world to Billy's style. Roughly strummed electric guitar & stark vocals belying a keen sense of melody & committed, deeply humane lyrics on topics ranging from life & love to social upheaval & the plight of the working class. Recorded live to 2-track tape for free over the course of three afternoons in Chappell Music's tiny demo studio in the modest hope of selling the occasional copy at early gigs, "Life's a Riot..." had initial sales topping 50,000 (ultimately over 120,000) w/o the aid of advertising. Six-Panel Mini-Jacket.

Bragg, Billy
Brewing Up W/ Billy Bragg
PS, US Billy's 1984 sophomore effort w/ the addition of 1985's "Between the Wars" EP. The album title comes from his brief stint on tank patrol in the British army. The album's grassroots-fueled success made good on an early publicity claim, "Billy Bragg has no band, no 'experimental' haircut, no gimmick & no video. He has a couple of cheap electric guitars, enormous personality, courage, integrity, a repertoire of timeless songs & very shortly, a second gold disc to give to his Mum." Six-Panel Mini-Jacket.
YepRoc-2602

Bragg, Billy
Talking W/ The Taxman About Poetry
PS, US Billy's 1985 album, about which Rolling Stone glowed, "On this album, cheerfully subtitled 'The difficult Third Album,' Bragg expands his pared-down sound ever-so-slightly (violin here, piano & tambourine there). While purists might bitch, the result is a winning mesh, as clever as Elvis Costello, as melodic as Ray Davies & as rocking as Chuck Berry." Six-Panel Mini-Jacket.

Bragg, Meredith & The Terminals
The Departures EP
PS, US "It's pure orchestral indie rock with heart" EntertainmentWeekly.com. The Departures EP is the highly anticipated follow up to this summer's critically acclaimed debut full length, Volume 1, by Meredith Bragg and The Terminals. Bragg continues to wield his astounding songwriting skills and innate grasp of atmospherics on this limited edition EP. The EP was recorded in the spring of 2005 by Chad Clark and T.J. Lipple (Dismemberment Plan, Aloha, Minus Story, Beauty Pill) at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia. Meredith is regularly backed up by his band The Terminals, consisting of Brian Minter on piano/keyboards, Jon Roth on drums, and Elizabeth Olson on cello. The band will be touring up and down the east coast in support.

Broken Family Band, The
Balls
PS, UK BALLS is the third full-length album from The Broken Family Band. They've got a good reputation for peddling jangly country music, but BALLS shows there's more to them than that. Since forming in Cambridge in 2001 they've chucked out 3 full-length records, 2 mini-albums, played more shows than some professional touring bands (all over the UK, Germany, Texas, Scandinavia etc), been all over the radio signed their publishing to Mute Song AND they've still got proper jobs, girlfriends and lives... BALLS shows off The Broken Family Band's love of indie rock, heavy metal, country-flavoured ballads, punk and arty pop meanderings, without the slightest thought for fashion or trends. Guests this time are limited to Kansas pop princess Piney Gir on vocals, with Goldrush's Joe Bennett and The Folk Orchestra's Gill Sandell chipping in here and there. Recroded Brian O'Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, My Bloody Valentine, Beth Orton).

Budd, Harold/Elizabeth Fraser/Robin Guthrie/Simon Raymonde
The Moon And The Melodies
PS, US An absolute essential classic. Harold Budd and The Cocteau Twins. Everyone's favorite romantic bedtime album. Marry the langorous refrains of Harold Budd with the piquant etherealism of the Cocteau Twins and you have a union made in heaven. THE MOON & THE MELODIES is a perfectly apropos title for the eight fragile sound-poems which decorate the digital code in this recording. Budd's fragmentary piano notes glisten like dewdrops on the morning lawn during "Memory Gongs," while Liz Frasier's mellifluous voice cascades over the frozen drum patterns and processed guitar opalescence of "Sea, Swallow Me." What Budd brings to these proceedings is an air of classical sophistication that reigns in any more mainstream aspirations. These beautifully serene mood pieces run the gamut from introspection ("Why Do You Love Me?") to probing pop-form curiosity ("Eyes Are Mosaics").

Bugaloos
Songs From the Original Television Series
PS, UK Syd & Marty Kroffts enormously successful follow up to Hr Pufnstuf another Wizard of Oz-style children's programme full of psychedelic metaphors and great music (Charles Fox and Norman Gimbel). With a nod toward the contemporary success of Josie and The Pussycats and The Banana Splits (which placed a band at the centre of the story), and with insect wings that allow them to fly, The Bugaloos were a fake pop band of English bugs who live in Tranquility Forest (the last of the British colonies) along with their friend Sparky the firefly.

Buttless Chaps, The
Where Night Holds Light
PS, CA The time has come once again to worship at the buttless chapel. Why?! Because, The Buttless Chaps' fifth release - and their second on Mint Records -Where Night Holds Light will be available in early 2006... so put on your cloak, light your candles and prepare to moan and writhe to the nameless backwoods sounds of The Buttless Chaps' newest excursion into the realms of the unknowable. But before we do that, you might need a bit more information. Here are some answers to your questions... The Buttless Chaps formed in Victoria eight years ago, but moved to Vancouver in order to save themselves inordinate expenditures on ferry fares. Until very recently they were; Dave Gowans (vocals, guitar, banjo, air raid siren), Lasse Lutick (guitar, synth), Morgan McDonald (keyboards), and Torben Wilson (drums), but now they have been enhanced by the addition of the lovely Ida Nilsen (vocals, accordion) whom you may be familiar with from her own excellent musical project, Great Aunt Ida.
Together they have formed a musical juggernaut the likes of which have not been seen since Hall first met Oates. Where Night Holds Light picks up hot on the heels of The Chaps' most recent Mint release, Love This Time, and takes the obsession with animals, insects, gardening and human suffering to its (musically) logical conclusion. Ida's addition brings the album to an existential wholeness that can only be achieved when both genders work together to describe the hopelessness of the world... and bugs.
Additionally, The Chaps have had excellent helping hands from such Canadian music luminaries as Martin Tielli (vocals, guitar) and Tim Vesely (vocals, bass) of the Rheostatics, JP Carter (trumpet) of The Inhabitants, Roger Dean Young (vocals) and Lyndsay Poaps (vocals). Together they have made an album of morose beauty, but with a nudge and a wink and a say-no-more. Imagine if Depeche Mode had recorded the album Sweetheart of the Rodeo by The Byrds or maybe if The Handsome Family had done their version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. If you can imagine that, you're in the right ballpark. Where Night Holds Light sounds like nothing you would have come across before, not even if you are already familiar with The Buttless Chaps. It's brooding jangly orchestral folk music, that it will make you come to the realization that life, although pointless, is also wonderful.

Cheer-Accident
Variations on Goddamn V2 Old Man
PS, US Second installment in series of recordings made at home & practice space from one of Chicago's longest running & most fascinating groups. With the lush synths, gigantic drums & catchy quasi-Euro melodies, it's tempting to try to pass this off as their 80's album, even though it really sounds like it was made in the 70's. In fact, it was recorded right here in the 21st century. Moody, hypnotic & challenging music from a group that defies categorization.

Chicago Underground Duo
In Praise Of Shadows
PS, US This finds ROB MAZUREK & CHAD TAYLOR returning the focus to improvisation. Simmilar in concept to "12 Degrees of Freedom", the record deals with dyad relationships such as tension & release, space & density, sound & slience. It also plays with sonic contrasts, low tone & high tones as well as contrasting approaches juxtaposing free jazz with modern composition. The album is intended to be viewed as one continual experience other than a collection of different tracks.

Chihei Hatakeyama
Minima Moralia
PS, US Chihei Hatakeyama concentrated on the textures of sound in creating Minima Moralia, consciously avoiding the use of electronic sounds; instead using sound fragments made by guitars and vibraphone he played himself. The fragments were processed and reprocessed in live performances on laptop. The contention between the analog sound sources, digital processing and the musician's choices are what give Minima Moralia its positive, warm, and physical presence. Minima Moralia presents the listener with tones that are familiar and tones that are foreign. Specific points of sound appear and velvet clouds elevate and disperse over the course of the album. Jumbles of melodies reveal and then resolve themselves. At all points Hatakeyama's directing hand is at work; in the shiver of a guitar string, the bright ring of the vibraphone, and the strategic use of silence. The naturalistic song titles suggest every day moments, sensations and experiences.

Nevermind
PS, US The affront is equal parts Butthole Surferania, irreverent punk & big-bore Rapeman noise delivered with in-the-red abandon. They write songs for people who are tired of punk rock. Too weird & unruly for typical alternative rock as well. Pummeling drums, drooling vocals & diamond-toothed chainsaw guitar al come together in an ugly display of volatile rock n' roll that easily brings to mind old Chicago noise-rock, highway construction work, brutal hangovers & Flipper.

Cracker
Greatest Hits Redux
PS, US Plenty of bands aren't happy with how their catalog is treated by former record labels, but no artists have confronted their old label the way Cracker does with the 2006 release of Greatest Hits Redux. As Virgin prepared its second Cracker compilation, Get on with It: The Best of Cracker, for release in early 2006, the band caught wind of the project, and when the label would not allow them to participate, they retaliated by re-recording a bunch of their signature tunes and releasing this new album, Greatest Hits Redux, on the same day Virgin's comp hit the stores. At the time of release, the band claimed that its fans have been waiting for years to hear these songs reinterpreted by a road-tested, tighter incarnation of Cracker, and that they had, in fact, been meaning to re-record these songs for a while now, but it's hard not to see the album as a giant middle finger in the face of Virgin, not in the least because nine of the 13 songs on Redux are also on Get on with It.
There are some subtle differences scattered throughout these renditions, from added or altered words to instrumental fills (like an accordion on the bridge to "Low"), but it's easy to listen to the big hits of "Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)," "Low," "Get Off This," and "Euro-Trash Girl" and think that they're the original recordings. In a way, this is something to admire -- few bands could exactly capture the vibe of their early albums 12 years later, and play it with some genuine conviction to boot. This is a quality that would indeed be admired by those legions of fans who have allegedly been wanting these re-recordings, and there's little question that hardcore fans, the kind who can spot the subtle difference between these redos and the originals, will get the most use out of this record. But really, they are the only listeners who will appreciate these new versions, or appreciate the ire that the band holds against its label. Casual fans may find this entertaining eno
ugh, particularly if they're just listening to it in passing, but given the choice, they'll choose the versions they remember from modern rock radio and 120 Minutes. And they do have the choice -- after all, a genuine hits album arrived in stores the very day this Redux did. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Cracker
Get on with It: The Best of Cracker
PS, US Arriving about six years after the first Cracker compilation (2000's double-disc set Garage d'Or), 2006's Get on with It: The Best of Cracker is a bit more hits-oriented than its predecessor -- which means that it isn't quite as idiosyncratic and it has "I Hate My Generation," the one modern rock radio hit missing from Garage, plus an edit of (bizarrely billed as the "album edit," even though the original album contained the full-length version) of the epic "Euro-Trash Girl." But to call this a pure hits collection is a little misleading, since two of their charting singles -- 1992's "Happy Birthday to Me" and 1996's "Nothing to Believe In" -- are absent, meaning this is no closer to being an all-hits comp than Garage d'Or. Of course, that doesn't mean this isn't worthwhile. Those missing hits are minor, and the rest of the comp is well-chosen, slightly emphasizing their biggest album (1993's Kerosene Hat) while giving equal weight to their eponymous 1992 debut and 1996's T
he Golden Age, and adding two tracks apiece from 1998's Gentleman's Blues and 2002's Forever (2003's Countrysides was not recorded for Virgin and consequently is not represented). It's a track shorter than the first disc of Garage (whose second disc was devoted to B-sides and rarities), but for most casual fans, that may not matter since Get on with It: The Best of Cracker serves up the band's best-known songs in a concise, entertaining fashion. (Side note: In his liner notes for Get on with It, producer Don Smith -- who helmed Cracker, Kerosene Hat, and The Golden Age -- says that Cracker "embraces the greatest-hits collection," which isn't exactly true: the band was so unhappy that Virgin was proceeding with the release of this compilation that they re-recorded a bunch of their songs and released these versions under the name Greatest Hits Redux the same day Get on with It hit the stores.) ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

Before....But Longer
PS, US Given that Denver-based five-piece the Czars are so deeply marked by a sense of good taste and musical adventure, it makes great sense that they should have been signed to a label founded by Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie of the Cocteau Twins. The voice of singer John William Grant is an exceptionally moving cross between Michael Stipe and American Music Club's Mark Eitzel, possessed of an innocence and clarity not often heard since the Sixties and psychedelic folk--or at least since Michael Murphey.

Dead Can Dance
Self-Titled
PS, US An essential classic. The band's first record. The band's sound here is much more clearly based in the "contemporary" -- Dead Can Dance uses traditional song structures, the group's instrumentation is almost entirely guitar, drums, synthesizer, and co-vocalist Lisa Gerrard's voice ethereal, other-worldly voice. Perhaps the most surprising single song on the album is "East of Eden." Built on a picked (and heavily echoed) guitar line and a rolling drum pattern, it is probably the only track in the DCD catalogue that can be described as relentlessly rock. Standouts include "The Fatal Impact," which boasts a crystal-clear guitar sound, a scaling base line, and tribal chanting; "Wild in the Woods," which is underscored by a threatening, droning guitar; and "Musica Eternal," a subtle track that clearly indicates the path that the band would eventually follow.

Faithfull, Marianne
Come My Way
PS, US In 1965 Marianne Faithful released 2 debut albums simultaneously, a self-titled pop album and an album called Come My Way comprised somewhat unexpectedly of folk tunes. While the 1st album generally reaffirmed her persona as she-devil and soulless poster child of that hedonistic generation, the latter gave listeners a fleeting glimpse of a hidden darker side, perhaps an unintentional foretelling of those black days that would soon follow. This reissue, available briefly in the UK and Japan, feat. 4 bonus tracks: her classic 1969 single "Sister Morphine," released prior to the Rolling Stones' version, the 1964 B-side "Blowin' in the Wind," "Et Maintenant," from a 1965 EP and the 1966 B-side "That's Right Baby."

Farina
Allotments
PS, US Fariña's second album with Pickled Egg marks the latest stage in a musical journey that has lasted nearly 25 years. Since 1981 Mark Brend and Matt Gale have ploughed a defiantly singular furrow through left-field pop, crafting irregular releases that only sometimes line up with the zeitgeist, and then usually by chance. Here, joined by Cliff Glanfield and Tim Conway relative newcomers with 10 and five years' service respectively they once again match elegant songcraft with subtle experimentation and inventive arrangements. With all four members singing, and between them drawing on an instrumental palette that includes not only guitar, bass, drums and keyboards, but more exotic colours like autoharp and flugelhorn, Allotments is an album of layers and depth.

Fortdax
Divers
PS, US nigh-on three years after 'folly' and at least 18 moons since the john peel session where the ideas were first aired, Darren Durham returns under the FortDax moniker with his somewhat-overdue new album. no, he's not entirely sure where the time went either...what can be said for certain though is that 'divers' is noticeably different in tone & hue to its predecessor and assuredly darker, although its core, as with previous FortDax releases, remains firmly rooted in melody. 'Folly' went on to be regarded as an 'ambient' work in certain quarters, but Darren swears that this was largely due to the low-volume mastering. suffice it to say that 'Divers' contains less of 'those vangelis synthesizers' and a sleeve instruction to 'play much louder'. this time around, there may also be other musicians involved, an amount of real (read 'physical') instrumentation, and at least one field recording from the bronte country valley where he lives & works. as per 'Folly', the album is dedic
ated to his dog 'Meg', although as with his geographical placement, that's not necessarily significant.

PS, US This was a rare quartet of guitars performance that took place August 8 of 2001 in a now defunct club in Brooklyn by Thurston Moore, Lee Ranaldo, Nels Cline and Carlos Giffoni. Infinite possibilities are explored as the signature styles of each of the group members create moments of tension, peace, violence, and run trough every possible range of emotions. _sychedelic tunnels of sound echo trough endless guitar lines, minimalism and maximalism both present in one moment, there are no solos and no selfishness, as 4 combine to create an unbeliabavle 40+ minute piece. A document of pure sonic exploration of a moment in time that will never be repeated by 4 of the most respected experimentalist of our day. Gillespie, Dana
Foolish Dreams
PS, UK Dana Gillespie was a music lover from an early age: "I discovered the blues when I went to the American Folk Blues Festival in 1962 and also to see the Yardbirds at the Marquee Club. I was in my early teens and hadn't heard anything like it before". In 1964 she recorded her first single for Pye, with Donovan on guitar...and became a regular on the folk circuit along with friends Donovan and David Bowie. She recalls: "I was doing folk because I couldn't afford a band and I hadn't found my musical
niche". In those early years Dana got to know many of the top bands and people in the music business....appearing on Ready Steady Go and other cool TV shows of the era along with the legends of the British pop explosion. In 1967, she made this album, Foolish Seasons, a Psychpop/Swinging London/Folkrock masterpiece. Featuring the rare Donovan song, "You Just Gotta Know My Mind," which should have been a smash mod hit, (and also includes the guitar of JIMMY PAGE!!!), and two fantastic Billy Nicholls covers from his much celebrated and legendary Psych/Softpop gem, 'Would You Believe.' Arranged by the great Mike Vickers and produced by Wayne Bickerton (World of Oz, Jackie Lomax, Pete Best Four, The Rubettes), this is one of THE great missing links of 1960s pop....Dana was to make one more album for Decca, morphing seamlessly into a more blues based style, before becoming a star of London's West End theatre: the first run of Jesus Christ Superstar (playing Mary Magdalene), The Who's "T
ommy" (playing the Acid Queen) and the rock Othello, "Catch My Soul". She also appeared with Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Kenneth Willams in the film "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" and starred in Ken Russell's "Mahler". A number of roles in latter-day Hammer films and more experimental art house movies are also fondly remembered. As a singer she moved to RCA Records and made WEREN'T BORN A MAN and AIN'T GONNA PLAY NO SECIND FIDDLE, under the aegis of David Bowie, whose management, Mainman, also took care of her career. A period in the US was spectacularly ended when Bob Dylan invited her to appear on his 1997 UK tour... Dana continues recording successfully today, specializing in her first love, emotionally expressive blues music....this sumptuous reissue of her classic first album is LONG overdue!! First time on CD ever in the world.

Jackson, Joe
Mike's Murder
PS, US Jackson finished the Night & Day tour in May 1983. He had been asked to contribute a song to Mike's Murder, a film written & directed by James Bridges. He ended up writing both a handful of songs & a few instrumental pieces that were released on a soundtrack album in September. Unfortunately, the film itself was not ready for release then, since it was the subject of a dispute between Bridges & the movie studio that had financed it, the result being re-shooting & re-editing, such that the film did not open until March 1984, by which time it had a score by John Barry & only a little of Jackson's music remaining & then it earned only one million dollars during a few weeks of theatrical showings, making it a disastrous flop. The orphaned soundtrack album, however, managed to get into the Top 100 & even spawned a chart single in the Jackson composition "Memphis," while "Breakdown" earned a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Instrumental Performance.

Jakob
Self-Titled
PS, US At times putting the post- into rock, and at others kicking the whole bloody fence down, Jakob's lush and textured take on the guitar/bass/drums format continues to broaden and enthrall with every performance and release. Their music is captivating and mesmerizing, the sedate becoming devastating in the blink of a crowd's collective eye. Echoing the graduated inclines and unexpected progressions found in their music and the expansive landscapes of their surroundings, this Napier three-piece has developedconsistently, if sometimes unpredictably, since their formation in 1998. Since that time Jakob have connected listeners the world over with their cascading crescendos, performing at South By Southwest 2005 (one of the Austin Chronicle's picks of the festival), Denmark's Forma Nova Festival, and touring the UK and USA supporting the likes of Mono, Pelican, and The Hidden Hand along the way. Not that the band hasn't left audiences around New Zealand enthralled - notable shows
around the country include Big Day Out appearances in consecutive years, a tour playing with former Can frontman Damo Suzuki, and poster space shared with the likes of HDU, Meterman, and Avotor. Kill the Moonlight
Steve Hanft/Beck (CD + DVD)
PS, US Twisted mid-90s comedy disguised as a 1970s drive-in film, KILL THE MOONLIGHT is the story of Chance--fish hatchery worker, toxic waste cleaner and aspiring racecar driver, whose goal in life is to fix up his Camaro and follow his dreams of championship glory. Director Steven Hanft captures the West Coast slacker vibe with laconic pacing, bizarre humor and a stock-car-racing hero, who also happened to provide the inspiration behind Beck's 1994 hit, "Loser." Samples from the film appeared in the song, and clips from the film were part of the "Loser" video, also directed by Hanft. Includes recent interview & is packaged with the long out-of-print original soundtrack CD including 3 EXCLUSIVE BECK songs and 3 previously unreleased tracks by the band Loser, featuring Beck & Hanft, a prolific music video director whose credits include Beck, Elliot Smith, Eels, Cure, Primal Scream and Spoon. Bonus Soundtrack CD includes: Beck, Pussywillows, Dynamics, Raunch Hands, Pam Aronoff, Go
To Blazes, Loser [feat. Beck], Delta Garage, Thomas Hendrix, World Famous Blue Jays, Martha Atwell.

Knickerbockers

Lawson, Juliet
Boo
PS, US Released to critical acclaim but low sales in 1972, JULIET LAWSON's sole album which originally appeared on EMI's Sovereign label has long been overdue a reissue. An eccentric, infectious record that showcases her plaintive vocals and gift for melody, it features support from saxophonist extraordinaire LOL COXHILL as well as members of folk-rock legends TREES. Reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Lawson's guitar and piano compositions remain distinctive, fresh and soaring within the folk-rock canon. Never previously available on CD, and complete with bonus tracks.

Les Georges
Leningrad Series L
PS, US Latest release in Tomlab's series of ULTRA limited singles (500 for the world). Loved for their unique style of stage performance, LGL are releasing two brand new tunes this winter. Months after their enchanting yet earbreaking disaster "Sur Les Traces Des Black Eskimo", they asked us to record a version of our least favorite (but favorite!) and gay (but not gay) pop classics from the early 90's. Most likely, it`s THE hit single by these two bold-headed brothers (who had a guitarist that didn`t resemble them). They were what ZZ TOP was in the 70's and what the BROS were in the 80's). Since it's extremely unconfirmed that the release is going to be THAT song, we're not giving anything away. VERY LIMITED.
