PS, SWEDEN This is the fourth full-length release for Sweden's Hans Appelqvist, his third for the Häpna label. Hot on the heels of his last record Naima, released in November 2006, Hans has a new album ready, entitled Sifantin och mörkret, containing 12 new tracks and a beautiful video for "Tänk att himlens alla stjärnor," made by Andreas Nilsson (The Knife, José Gonzales and The Soundtrack Of Our Lives). The music shows Hans from a new side, the album being more open and spontaneous than previous works. Animal noises, doors creaking, children shouting, delicate acoustic guitar, and rollicking instrumentals, Sifantin och mörkret is a patchwork symphony. It oscillates between the sweet and grotesque, the nice and the ugly, harmony and terror, light and darkness.

So totally of-the-era, but I guess that is not surprising! Includes contributions from several of Barjed's TSOOL mates, including frontman Ebbot Lundberg; a brand new song from The Tallest Man On Earth; plus guest appearances by Elope's Sebastian Aronsson and Anders Person, Hipwhips' Markus Lindmark, The Frustration's Jan Martens, Mustasch's Ralf Gyllenhammar and series actors/stars Sverrir Gudnasson and Fanny Risberg, among others! PS, GERMANY Shane Berry was born in South Africa and presently lives in Japan's capital, Tokyo. There he creates his tracks, all of which go directly from the ears to the legs. He released an EP on Trapez and tracks on the New York label Synewave. His songs are played and charted by numerous DJs, and colleagues such as Richie Hawtin and Dominik Eulberg hold Berry's work in high esteem. The new EP on Glückskind might also please them. Again Shane takes two bass lines and twists the sounds for several minutes through an electronic meat grinder. Over the kick, it pulsates and holds it all together perfectly. 'Scrawlys' is refined, reduced minimal techno. 'Deep Space' goes a bit deeper, techno-wise. Indeed, there is also a dominating bass loop, but the insertion of reverb and delay leaves the track with far more room to breathe.

Lips That Would Kiss collects together a selection of key tracks and singles recorded for Factory Benelux, Les Disques du Crepuscule and Sordide Sentimental between 1980 and 1986. Chief among these are the pristine singles Lips That Would Kiss b/w Madeleine (1980) and Danny b/w Enigma (1981), both recorded with legendary producer Martin Hannett. The remastered 75 minute CD also includes the rare 12" EP for Factory Benelux from 1982, Deux Triangles, several unique tracks recorded for Crepuscule compilation albums, and no less than nine tracks from the unreleased 1983 album Short Stories For Pauline, several of which feature Tuxedomoon man Blaine L. Reininger on violin. The booklet features archive images, and a cover based on the original 1980 sleeve for the Lips That Would Kiss single by artist Jean-Francois Octave. Artist biography: Manchester native Vini Reilly formed The Durutti Column in 1978, recording his debut album The Return of the Durutti Column the following year with producer Martin Hannett, a set of delicate instrumental tracks housed in an abrasive sandpaper sleeve. Subsequent landmark albums include LC (1981), Without Mercy (1984), The Guitar & Other Machines (1987), Sex & Death (1993), Fidelity (1996) and Someone Else's Party (2003). A prolific recording artist in his own right (usually with drummer Bruce Mitchell), Reilly has also guested on records by Morrissey, Olive and Holly Johnson. For many years the group were managed by the late Anthony H. Wilson, founder of Factory Records.

Reviews: "The latest addition to the evergrowing 33 1/3 series (now up to volume 51) is an in-depth look at Nick Drake's final album "Pink Moon". Tackling a 28 minute album of sparse folk by an artist whose life went largely undocumented (there are no known video clips or interviews with Drake) is a daunting task, but Petrusich handles the job nicely by telling the story through interviews with the people who knew Drake and worked with him musically, as well as testimonials from current artists who have felt his influence. She also does a great service to the readers by not painting Drake as some romantically doomed poetic soul, like so many other writers have done in the past. In fact, she does an excellent job of dispelling many Drake myths (ex: he didn't anonymously leave the tapes for Pink Moon at Island's reception desk without saying a word), and even points out flaws in the album (many of the vocals are garbled). The most interesting part of the book is the final third which focuses on Pink Moon's 21st Century revival thanks to a 2000 Volkswagon commercial featuring the title track. While many make the argument that using a song to push a product cheapens the artistry of the song, "Pink Moon" was used to such great effect that it has simultaneously become synonymous with Volkswagon. More importantly, thanks to commercial exposure, annual sales of the album jumped from 6,000 to 74,000 in the year that it hit the airwaves - exposing Drake's work to a new generation. PS, JAPAN Modern Ambivalence is the fourth album by Leeds long standing proponent of electronic music, RandomNumber. Modern Ambivalence is the latest incarnation of an evolving style which has taken shape over the past eight or so years which flowered from early noise experiments that gave way to a tentative and primitive electronica that was released on the now defunct, yet legendary CDR label, Fencing Flatworm. Since these early digital musings Robson's music has charted a course of increasing melody and of rhythmical complication with releases for California's Rocket Racer 2002's Understand Your Date & Time of Nowhere and Mogwai's Rock Action 2001's NME Dance single of the Week "The Fact That I Did" EP, Towards The Forlorn Society (2003) for Catmobile Records took the trademark sound to it's limit with it's brittle and unsettling mix of rhythmic obfuscation and winter smeared synth impressionism that tested the boundaries of home brewed electronic music. During this period, other more accessible EPs and mixes appeared for labels as diverse as Vacuous Pop and Irritant (who gave homes to early releases by Kid606, Knifehandchop and Printed Circuit). Shows with the likes of I Am Robot & Proud, Printed Circuit, Kid 606 and Cex would see the randomNumber live performance taken across the waters to France, USA, Mexico and Canada throughout the whole 2002 to 2004 period and would represent Robson's most prolific period of international touring as a solo artist. The tensions of these awkward, yet compelling mid-period pieces soon gave way to a more confident and relaxed sound that was no less compromising in it's desire to chart the dark and melancholic landscape of contemporary electronica, but presented a more coherent and accessible sound that appealed to a wider audience. Golden Acre Sleeps (Highpoint Lowlife) (2006) ushers in the dawn of a Post-Electronica era of scene fragmentation and ghettoisation with bedroom producers increasingly marginalized into obscurity or MP3 mediocrity, against this backdrop, Golden Acre comes across as a breath of fresh air from the very grassroots of the scene. Throughout this recent period, the randomNumber sound continues to develop, as Golden Acre was being released to a world increasingly enthralled by the new breed of over confident pretty boys with guitars, giddy on corporate expense accounts, Robson continues to be a credible live performer at both rock and electronic shows, playing with the likes of Thee More Shallows, Pram, Clark, A Silver Mount Zion, Christ and Bracken to name a few, showcasing material from the Modern Ambivalence sessions.

Stand-out tracks include Dear To Me, Burning and Hundred Points, the latter a future pop classic complemented by a brilliant animated video clip made by Tony Sbarbaro. A unique set that defies classification, Way Out also features one bonus song, the beautiful title track from Alessandra's previous artist album, Chi Mi Darà le Ali. The memorable cover image is the painting Pensando alla Guerra by artist Isobel Blank. Short biography: Alessandra Celletti studied piano at the Santa Cecilia Music Conservatory in Rome . After graduating she continued her studies with Vera Gobbi Belcredi, specializing in French piano works of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. In 1994 she released Les sons et les parfums, an album of pieces by Debussy, Ravel and Satie. Since then she has followed an irregular artistic path, characterized by sudden departures from classical music. Her second album, Viaggio a Praga, an exploration of the work of Bohemian composers, saw Alessandra awarded a scholarship by the Czech Republic in 1997. On returning to Italy she began working with Kha Records. Her collection Esoterik Satie proved hugely popular in France , and Gnossienne #1 was used by Guy Ritchie in his 2005 movie Revolver. Alessandra is now preparing to release two new albums. The Golden Fly will appear in Italy in October 2007, and Way Out by LTM in January 2008.

PS, UK Almost immediately after the demise of The Monkees in 1970, there was industry clamour for a reunion and publisher Christian Dewalden came forward with an offer to finance the project. Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones were enthusiastic but as Mike Nesmith wasn't interested and Peter Tork couldn't be found a kind of pseudo-Monkees was created enlisting the services of gifted songwriting team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, who had written The Monkees first number one 'Last Train To Clarksville', 'The Monkees Theme (Hey, Hey We're The Monkees)' and '(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone'. So Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart was born. With the Monkees logo under copyright and not available for their use, the foursome set off on tour as 'the great golden hits of the Monkees - the guys who wrote 'em and the guys who sang 'em.' DJBH made its first public appearance on July 4, 1975 at six flags over mid-America in St. Louis, Missouri, where they were met by 12,500 of the same screaming fans who had followed the Monkees 10 years previously. Performing a raft of Monkee hits (Peter Tork had joined DJBH onstage at Disneyland) the band appeared on 'American Bandstand' and 'Don Kirshner's rock concert' and toured the States for a year before heading to the far east. They have the distinction of being the first American band to play in Thailand (they had to cut their hair to be allowed into the country!). The success of the American tour secured a contract with capitol records. The subsequent 'Dolenz Jones Boyce & Hart' was produced by Boyce & Hart and though light and very pop, is regarded as the most coherent Monkeerelated

Heaven, a jazz rock group from Portsmouth, burst forth onto the British rock scene in 1970 when they appeared at the legendary Isle of Wight festival sharing a bill with The Who, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix et al. Making a stunning debut, the band (now managed by festival organiser Rikki Farr), soon secured a recording deal with CBS Records who signed the band for a large advance. The resulting double album "Brass Rock 1" appeared in 1971, adorned in a lavish fold-out sleeve. Well received critically, the album failed to achieve the expected success and Heaven soon disbanded, leaving behind a fine example of classic jazz rock. Officially released on CD for the first time, this Esoteric Recordings reissue is digitally remastered from the original master tapes and restores the artwork of the album in full.

PS, UK 60's Brit Pop with an influence on 90's Brit Pop. Includes rare Joe Meek produced tracks. All first time on CD, and first ever reissue. After writing the soundtrack to the quintessential pre- Beatles English pop movie What A Crazy World Alan Klein scored a deal with Decca to write and perform his view of English society at the time. His style of delivery was very distinctive, not unlike contemporary Anthony Newley, and writing like Lionel Bart. Alan was managed by Ken Pitt who also had another client called David Jones, soon to be David Bowie. That the early style of Bowie's delivery is also akin to Kleins must surely be more than coincidence. In the mid 90's Damon Albarn was asked about his influences and said about this LP " ...it was instrumental in me making Modern Life Is Rubbish,and changing and getting an idea of my own self.... I can't believe that David Bowie didn't know him inside out, and the same with Ray Davies. My favourite track goes ' he's a twentieth-century Englishman ' (see Blur's For Tomorrow). It's a fantastic record." Klein went on to tour the world as vocalist in the New Vaudeville Band. For bonus tracks we include the two singles he wrote and recorded in 1962, both produced by Joe Meek, and the 1965 singles including the withdrawn Age Of Corruption.

PS, GERMANY We are extremely excited to announce the 1st collaboration between the Dekorder label and our old friend, local conspirator and private hair gardener Felix Kubin. Kubin has achieved worldwide reputation by releasing post-dadaist, futuristic NDW-influenced Organ&Korg smash hits on his own Gagarin label, on A-Musik, Ski-pp, Meeuw, Diskono et al. He has collaborated with People Like Us, Coolhaven, Mark Boombastik, Asmus Tietchens, ensemble Intégrales, David Fenech, Ergo Phizmiz, Boris D. Hegenbart, Wojtek Kucharczyk and many others. His first recordings date back to his teenage years in the early 1980's, followed by his electroacoustic noise duo Klangkrieg and the pseudo-communist Liedertafel Margot Honecker. Right from the start Felix Kubin has written and recorded music for films (hence the title of his first album) by the likes of Mariola Brillowska and Anke Feuchtenberger and continues the German tradition of "Hörspiel" (radio play) with works such as "Territerrortorium", "Nachtspeicher", "Orpheus' Psykotron" and "Syndikat für Gegenlärm" (with guest appearances by Matmos, DAT Politics and Wolfgang Müller of Die Tödliche Doris). Some of Kubin's most gorgeous and adventurous works are his contributions to "The Raft" (a radio play by the mysterious Xentos Bentos of The Homosexuals, directed by Lukas Simonis of Coolhaven, Trespassers W, Dull Schicksal) and his soundtracks for theatre plays by Branko Simic ("Zufall", based on a short story by Vladimir Nabokov) and the notorious Schorsch Kamerun. The latter (known in Germany as a member of Goldene Zitronen) directed "Hollywood Elegien" based on a song cycle by Bert Brecht and Hanns Eisler. Now the best parts of these works are for the first time available on LP and CD, simply (and aptly) titled "Music for Theatre and Radio Play". While the musical spectrum on this release covers a variety of styles and moods it's still almost immediately recognizable as a typically Kubin-ist work featuring the main ingredients his records and body-and-mind-boggling live shows are famous for. Twisted rythms & playfully clever arrangements that could have been created by a mutated reincarnation of the legendary Juan Esquivel; hauntingly ethereal tracks sounding like a narcoleptic John Carpenter playing Angelo Badalamenti arrangements; contorted Big Band music, pre-war Schlager and Vaudeville sent through a malfunctioning pre-digital time machine; Ennio Morricone cloned as a Russian male choir; instrumental workers' songs Hanns Eisler might have imagined in a feverish nightmare - it's all there, and more!

PS, SWEDEN Migration is a sparkling pop album, where breezy vocals meet deceptively sunny arrangements that perfectly wrap up the most heartfelt melodies. Biography: Sambassadeur debuted on Labrador in winter 2005 with the release of the "Between the Lines"-EP. The EP was followed by their self-titled debut album later that year. The songs were all recorded at home which gave the production a primitive quality that labeled them by some as being a lo-fi-twee act. This was never the bands intention. If the cliché is that songs are like children, then Sambassadeur saw no purpose in stagnating in front of their home-computer while watching their kids being taken custody by those who didn't have the ability to, indeed, read between the lines and see through the understated surface of the songs. This called for some change. The EP "Coastal Affairs", released in may 2006, marked the start of a development towards a more luxurious setting. Without loosing their enigmatic qualities, songs like "Kate" and "Marie" introduced a breeze of new confidence. The Sambassadeurs saw the opportunity to take things to even greater heights and returned to the scene in late august 2007 with "Subtle Changes".

Released on the short lived Greenwich Gramophone label in 1972, the album was influenced by the experiments of groups such as KING CRIMSON, GENTLE GIANT et al, but was more than a mere clone of these bands. Evolving from the equally excellent band WEB (whose album "I Spider" is a classic of the genre), the musicianship on the album was excellent and Keyboard player DAVE LAWSON's compositions were groundbreaking and memorable. Sadly the group disbanded shortly after the release of the record resulting in limited sales. However, the influence of the album was not lost as both DAVE LAWSON and TONY REEVES soon joined DAVE GREENSLADE to form the group GREENSLADE, effectively taking up the musical mantle laid down by SAMURAI. This Esoteric reissue features a booklet with previously unseen photographs and an interview with DAVE LAWSON.

PS, JAPAN "Nothing Against The Ocean" is the debut CD of Set In Sand, licensed by Hue (JAPAN) from Abandon Building Records (US). Set in Sand (one of the many aliases of producer Lendin Hopes) was brought into this world around 2000, originally designed as a purely electronic and instrumental project working within the nether-regions of IDM. Early Set in Sand creations followed the blueprint for experimental electronic song crafts, disjointed percussion and glitchy filtered melodies with subtle instrumentation and vocal samples offering a hint of things to come. Two net releases came out in this vein, the self released "Are You Listening EP" and the full length "You Say You Can't Sleep Alone" by German label Subsource. Around 2004 Lendin reconnected with his singer-songwriter roots, adding acoustic guitar and vocals to a large portion of his compositions. Sand is also the producer for the whacky Hip Hop duo Flowtation Addvice (who's debut "Terrain Clouds" is due out on Abandon Building in early 08.) With "NATO" Lendin has synthesized all the elements of his early work into a weird piece of sonic experimentation masquerading as a sort of Pop album. Half of the albums 8 songs feature vocals, a surreal blend of androgynous singing and hyperactive MC work. The music is based around skeletons of guitar and programmed beats with multiple layers of digital nonsense wrapped around them. A most distinct touch is Lendin's use of live drums in complimentary patterns over the grounding electronic percussion. It results in a blurring mesh of chaotic calm, establishing a kind of fresh voice in the world of beatmaking. In other words it's pretty decent stuff.

Initially intended as a single to feature their song 'Si tu sais pas' -an irresistible techno-pop gem which Souvenir wrote and recorded after the release of '64'- it has eventually become a real treat for fans which includes their cover version of Blondie's 'Hanging on the telephone' (which Souvenir are performing live on their current tour), three remixes of songs from '64', and their amazing first-ever video of the song 'Allô, allô'. 'Scrawlys' is refined, reduced minimal techno. 'Deep Space' goes a bit deeper, techno-wise. Micky Dolenz and Davy Jones were enthusiastic but as Mike Nesmith wasn't interested and Peter Tork couldn't be found a kind of pseudo-Monkees was created enlisting the services of gifted songwriting team of Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart, who had written The Monkees first number one 'Last Train To Clarksville', 'The Monkees Theme (Hey, Hey We're The Monkees)' and '(I'm Not Your) Stepping Stone'. So Dolenz, Jones, Boyce & Hart was born. With the Monkees logo under copyright and not available for their use, the foursome set off on tour as 'the great golden hits of the Monkees - the guys who wrote 'em and the guys who sang 'em.' DJBH made its first public appearance on July 4, 1975 at six flags over mid-America in St. Louis, Missouri, where they were met by 12,500 of the same screaming fans who had followed the Monkees 10 years previously. Performing a raft of Monkee hits (Peter Tork had joined DJBH onstage at Disneyland) the band appeared on 'American Bandstand' and 'Don Kirshner's rock concert' and toured the States for a year before heading to the far east. They have the distinction of being the first American band to play in Thailand (they had to cut their hair to be allowed into the country!). The success of the American tour secured a contract with capitol records. His style of delivery was very distinctive, not unlike contemporary Anthony Newley, and writing like Lionel Bart. Alan was managed by Ken Pitt who also had another client called David Jones, soon to be David Bowie. That the early style of Bowie's delivery is also akin to Kleins must surely be more than coincidence. In the mid 90's Damon Albarn was asked about his influences and said about this LP " ...it was instrumental in me making Modern Life Is Rubbish,and changing and getting an idea of my own self.... I can't believe that David Bowie didn't know him inside out, and the same with Ray Davies. My favourite track goes ' he's a twentieth-century Englishman ' (see Blur's For Tomorrow). SubliminalSounds-022 CD $16.25 Sambassadeur Migration (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 22ND) PS, SWEDEN Migration is a sparkling pop album, where breezy vocals meet deceptively sunny arrangements that perfectly wrap up the most heartfelt melodies. Biography: Sambassadeur debuted on Labrador in winter 2005 with the release of the "Between the Lines"-EP. The EP was followed by their self-titled debut album later that year. The songs were all recorded at home which gave the production a primitive quality that labeled them by some as being a lo-fi-twee act. This was never the bands intention. If the cliché is that songs are like children, then Sambassadeur saw no purpose in stagnating in front of their home-computer while watching their kids being taken custody by those who didn't have the ability to, indeed, read between the lines and see through the understated surface of the songs. This called for some change. The EP "Coastal Affairs", released in may 2006, marked the start of a development towards a more luxurious setting. Without loosing their enigmatic qualities, songs like "Kate" and "Marie" introduced a breeze of new confidence. The Sambassadeurs saw the opportunity to take things to even greater heights and returned to the scene in late august 2007 with "Subtle Changes". Labrador-106 CD $15.75 Samurai S-T (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 22ND) PS, UK Classic Progressive rock album - Now 24-bit remastered from the original master tapes. New essay & interview with Dave Lawson. "Samurai" is truly a lost classic of the Progressive era. Released on the short lived Greenwich Gramophone label in 1972, the album was influenced by the experiments of groups such as KING CRIMSON, GENTLE GIANT et al, but was more than a mere clone of these bands. Evolving from the equally excellent band WEB (whose album "I Spider" is a classic of the genre), the musicianship on the album was excellent and Keyboard player DAVE LAWSON's compositions were groundbreaking and memorable. Sadly the group disbanded shortly after the release of the record resulting in limited sales. However, the influence of the album was not lost as both DAVE LAWSON and TONY REEVES soon joined DAVE GREENSLADE to form the group GREENSLADE, effectively taking up the musical mantle laid down by SAMURAI. This Esoteric reissue features a booklet with previously unseen photographs and an interview with DAVE LAWSON. First formed in '76 by Andy Meyers & Ken Badger, they were one of the most intrepidly inspired bands of the Toronto new wave/punk scene. They now return w/ a full-length collection of Velvet Underground covers recorded live between 1977-81 in Toronto. Jangly, inverted pop aesthetics & wild mood swings of feverish noise dominate these ten tracks, making this an abrasive wash of harmonious distortion. DreamTower-001 CD $16.25 Scientists, The Swampland: Birth Of The Scientists (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 22ND) PS, UK Formed in Perth, Australia, but later to relocate to Melbourne and then London, Kim Salmon's Scientists played a brand of minimalist punked-up swamp blues that saw them become legends on at least three continents. Just about everyone loves the Scientist, from Sonic Youth and Mudhoney (both of whom have asked the band to play with them) to Sub Pop to Henry Rollins - in fact, the entire US alt-rock hierarchy. And what's not to like - this new compilation for the UK features the strongest tracks from the band's legendary Blood Red River recordings, notably 'Swampland', one of the most evocative and best loved Australian songs of all time. But that's not all: as well as the studio recordings, with Kim's permission we've unearthed some dynamite live recordings from 1982 that have never been released anywhere before. The packaging includes a mammoth essay on the band's history written by Alex Ogg, with full co-operation and humorous asides from Kim, plus photos and memorabilia. A handy starting point for those new to the band, featuring as it does the cream of the Scientists' work from their acclaimed early Melbourne period, but spiced up with some amazing live tracks for the established fan. CherryRed-345 CD $15.50 Set In Sand Nothing Against The Ocean (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 22ND) PS, JAPAN "Nothing Against The Ocean" is the debut CD of Set In Sand, licensed by Hue (JAPAN) from Abandon Building Records (US). Set in Sand (one of the many aliases of producer Lendin Hopes) was brought into this world around 2000, originally designed as a purely electronic and instrumental project working within the nether-regions of IDM. Early Set in Sand creations followed the blueprint for experimental electronic song crafts, disjointed percussion and glitchy filtered melodies with subtle instrumentation and vocal samples offering a hint of things to come. Two net releases came out in this vein, the self released "Are You Listening EP" and the full length "You Say You Can't Sleep Alone" by German label Subsource. Around 2004 Lendin reconnected with his singer-songwriter roots, adding acoustic guitar and vocals to a large portion of his compositions. Examples of this style can be found on the net release "Mini Splintered Things" hosted by the good folks at Drift Records. In addition to these three net releases Set in Sand has contributed songs to a number of compilations including "Assemblage Sessions 1 and 2 CD's" (Abandon Building), "Subvaritrax" (Subvariant), "Ctrl-Space" (Modsquare), "The Karaoke Hymnal" (Peppermill Records) and "Calderas of the Mind" and "Heart on the Right Spot" ( Project Mooncircle/ Botanica Del Jibaro). Set in Sand is also the producer for the whacky Hip Hop duo Flowtation Addvice (who's debut "Terrain Clouds" is due out on Abandon Building in early 08.) With "NATO" Lendin has synthesized all the elements of his early work into a weird piece of sonic experimentation masquerading as a sort of Pop album. Half of the albums 8 songs feature vocals, a surreal blend of androgynous singing and hyperactive MC work. The music is based around skeletons of guitar and programmed beats with multiple layers of digital nonsense wrapped around them. A most distinct touch is Lendin's use of live drums in complimentary patterns over the grounding electronic percussion. It results in a blurring mesh of chaotic calm, establishing a kind of fresh voice in the world of beatmaking. In other words it's pretty decent stuff. Hue-1039 CD $16.25 Shalabi, Sam Eld (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 22ND) PS, US Third solo outing was conceived in Cairo, Egypt in 2006 while Shalabi was living there and further realized in Montreal & Vancouver. His ideas were to compose songs for singers he knew and enjoyed and to create a 'modern Arabic pop' record. Features well over 25 musicians. Alien8-074 CD $13.50 Snow, Hank Paving The Highway With Tears (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 29TH) PS, UK Resplendent in his lavish and colorful sequin-studded suits, Hank Snow had a career covering six decades during which he sold more than 80 million albums, and was one of the biggest stars of country music practically from it's origins until his passing, a unique man and a unique achievement. Born in Nova Scotia in 1914, Snow embarked on a musical career as a teenager, conquering Canadian radio as "The Yodelling Ranger", until his voice changed and so did his name! In 1950, Snow had the monster hit, "I'm Movin' On", the first of many, and covered by country, R&B and Rock acts to this day...Everyone from Johnny Cash to The Rolling Stones has dome their take of this classic song... Along the way, Hank even briefly managed his young protégé Elvis Presley, introducing him at The Grand Ole Opry as he had done for Hank Williams before him... Hank Snow was a giant of country music, and here we present some of his greatest recordings. Rev-Ola-237 CD $15.50 Souvenir Extras 64 (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JANUARY 8TH) PS, SPAIN Souvenir's 'Extras 64' has been conceived as the epilogue to their record '64' (Jabalina Música 2007), which was released at the beginning of this year and critically acclaimed as an inspired change of course in the sound of this heterodox Spanish indie band. Initially intended as a single to feature their song 'Si tu sais pas' -an irresistible techno-pop gem which Souvenir wrote and recorded after the release of '64'- it has eventually become a real treat for fans which includes their cover version of Blondie's 'Hanging on the telephone' (which Souvenir are performing live on their current tour), three remixes of songs from '64', and their amazing first-ever video of the song 'Allô, allô'. So 'Extras 64' features two brand new tracks, a video and three remixes which give songs from '64' an even more dance-oriented dimension. For this task Souvenir have chosen artists on their same wavelength, such as Johan Agebjörn (the Swedish producer and songwriter who's responsible for the success of this year's brilliant debutante Sally Shapiro) who has taken 'Allô, allô' to new dancefloor heights, or Spanish singer Miqui Puig, who has remixed 'Une semaine en ballon'. Also, Souvenir's Jaime Cristóbal has revamped his own 'Accident à Londres'.
