first issued in the UK in early 1982. AFFLICTED MAN was
the name acid-punk STEVE HALL chose to finalize his mark

documented some art-damaged UK DIY punk, but here he fully
extended into a pre-High Rise no-fi blare of incredible

Ant
Cures For Broken hearts
PS, UK Alternative Indie/Acoustic. In 1996 Ant played his
first gig on drums with Hefner to a sparse crowd in London's
Hope and Anchor. After releasing 24 singles and EP's and
6 albums Hefner became an international act but their drummer
Ant had been moonlighting, 'CURES FOR BROKEN HEARTS' is
Ants third solo project; written and recorded during the
short gaps in the bands busy schedule, he offered up five
of his best songs at the time for general release. Ant
begun writing his own songs back in 1988. And after 9 years
of playing and recording in his bedroom, he eventually
played his first solo show in March '97 at London's exclusive
12 Bar Club. His first solo single, 'I HOPE YOU'LL ALWAYS
BE THERE' was released in spring '99 on the infamous 'Evil
World Records' as a limited edition 7inch single. Described
by Ant as 'a catchy little disco number' the single sold
out within the first few months of its release. His second
release, 'WHERE HAPPINESS BEGINS' featured three tracks
of 'gentle acoustic pop' on CD. Limited to just 100 copies
with numbered sleeves it has now become a collectors item.
The CD was released in Sweden on 'Fabulous Friends Records',
and due to popular demand was re-pressed as a 7inch for
release summer 2000. The vocal and song writing talents
of Ant become all too apparent on this new 5 track mini
album. Songs of love, hate, pain, anger and happiness,
blend perfectly with heartfelt vocals and acoustic guitar.
For those of you who have ever been broken hearted and
for those of you who still are Ant offers a new audio remedy
- CURES FOR BROKEN HEARTS..

Mating Game
PS, US Intoxicating & playful debut album is a beautiful
11 track work from the duo of Shana Halligan and Kiran
Shahani (ex-SUPREME BEINGS OF LEISURE). Each song unfolds
like a little vignette of romantic interludes & scenes
from enchanting films of days gone by. Fans of Portishead,
Zero 7, Serge Gainsbourg, Everything But The Girl & Bjork
will quickly fall in love with the album's sound. From
the sultry, exotic opening track to the big band sass & dreamy
torchsongs, Shana's melodically sweet and sexy vocals paired
with Kiran's experimental pop beats andmasterful programming
make for an album that will undoubtedly stand the test

Black Cab
Altamont Diary
PS, GERMANY A dazed, drug-ripped voyage to the dark heart
of rock and roll... Australia's Black Cab features ex-Foil
and Registered Nurse members. The sound is a heady brew
of raw guitars, early '70's style drums, plus eerie electronic
and industrial audio treatments. Black Cab's sound is inspired
as much by late '60's and early '70's America as it is
by American music of that period. The album's beer soaked
programming and walls of electric and acoustic guitars,
sitars, maracas and monstrous live & programmed drums
delve through time to that fateful day at Altamont. Like
the evil, bastard son of The Who's 'Tommy', Altamont Diary
is unashamedly a concept album.

Brosseau, Tom
Empty Houses are Lonely
PS, US Songs of lost love & poetic observation that
shimmer like aural tintypes. Collection of highlights from
his recorded history to date, augmented by several new
recordings. Brosseau's voice sounds eerily like a high-lonesome
reincarnation of Jeff Buckley. High, limber & sometimes
vibrato-tinged, it seems to hover between the masculine & feminine.
Hauntingly moody & atmospheric, & avoids the typical
garden-variety verse-chorus-bridge song structures in his
writing.

Monk proprietor and sound molder in BLOOD STEREO, DECAER

and BILL NACE (X.O.4, VAMPIRE BELT). The Maiming Path extends
from the group's previous mind melts with two side-long
(de)constructions that are assembled from a variety of
mangled loops and electronics, guitar feedback/slaughter
and Cro-Magnon vocals. The results are a murky stew, as
each emerging sound creeps upon the listener like a blackened
sloth nightmare. It's the type of organic brain tangle
that is rarely unleashed by the spirits these days. The

Gimme Cigarettes
PS, US Long rumored to be a Sparks side project, CIGARETTES
were not Sparks but an obscure Los Angeles art punk band
featuring PIPE, LONNY CARLYSLE, MARC QUESTION, and BAT
LUCKY. Behind those nom de musique were one JOHN CLANCY,
keeper of the Cigarettes' flame, and PHILO CRAMER, who
left the band to join something called Fear. Two songs
that both attack and make you laugh. The Cigarettes were
part of that just-now-being-defined grey area known as
mid-'70s proto punk, a stew of psych, prog, heavy metal,
freak rock, glam, and even free jazz. A first time legitimate
reissue of the the band's fantastic 1978 Carlysle/Moxie
single (recorded in 1975 & 76), with the unfortunately
neglected "Oh! Oh! Oh!," and liner notes on the
band's history. Edition of 500 copies.

Blanga
PS, US Milwaukee space/psych-rock veterans, F/i, are back
with original member RICHARD FRENECKI in the fold and the
results are here to behold. Recorded in 2004, Blanga sees
the lineup including F/i stalwarts BRIAN WENSING, GRANT
RICHTER, and Frenecki, along with RICK HAKE and JOHN FRANKOVIC
joining the troupe. Most of all, Blanga (that's apparently
an in-joke within the group and something to do with Amon
Duul and Hawkwind, go figure) shows that the band hasn't
diluted their talent in ripping out some of the most awe-inspiring,
trance-inducing and speaker-destroying psych-rock of the
last 25 years! All the crucial pieces are in place: the
matronymic drum beats, the Eno/Hawkwind-esque synth swirls
and, most of all, the overwhelming cloud of fuzzbox guitar
distortion coating the proceedings."

Write You Own History
PS, US Write Your Own History collects B-sides and previously
unreleased material from up-and-coming UK pop phenoms FIELD
MUSIC, who have produced some amazing non-album tracks,
equal to many of the songs on their acclaimed 2005 debut.
Though all deserve wider recognition, one song in particular, "Alternating
Current," holds particular sway over Memphis Industries.
Though the label desperately wanted it on the album proper,
the band preferred it as a B-side. Write Your Own History
was the compromise-a way to give the song more exposure
in a context which the band was (moderately) comfortable
with.

Glands Of External Secretion/Nels Cline/My Cat Is An Alien
From The Earth To The Spheres V.6
PS, UK Italian brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka
My Cat Is An Alien, split the sixth volume of their "From
the earth to the Spheres" series with San Francisco's
cult band Glands Of External Secretion. On this occasion
the duo, formed in 1992 by Bananafish magazine publisher/
performance artist Seymour Glass and indie-rock princess
Barbara Manning, features the special collaboration of
well-known guitarist improviser Nels Cline (now member
of Wilco). The trio's track "Icebox" is a slow
ascent from the realm of isolationism, through frozen tape
manipulation and icy drones, terrific voices and subtle
infernal groans which seem to come from the obscure side
of the Moon, where Cline's estranged looped guitar is ready
to launch the ultimate attack to Earth. On the other side
of the flip, MCIAA's "After the Meteor Shower" represents
a further experiment in the use of Roberto's unearthly
fragmented vocals, as a way to create heavy-emotional textures
of interstellar tunes. A cosmic ! rain of howling guitars & electronics
introduces the fall into a silent, ritualistic procession
marked by the distant echo of a drum, alongside a whispered
chant over real sounds emerging from the concrete surface
of the Planet.

Harpies
Bleed, Believe
PS, US Metal. The debut album. A revolving door of musicians
have all had a hand in shaping what has become The Harpies
of 2004. Since the emergence of their first recording in
2003 the sound has continually evolved, finally taking
the shape of "BLEED BELIEVE", their debut album.
Starting as an escape from school-induced boredom the band
quickly progressed and left the school practice room ehind,
embracing members of other local bands and morphing into
something else completely. Getting heavier and heavier
with every stage of progression the band soon found themselves
with an entirely different audience - numerous plays on
the Radio 1 rock show, a session for Steve Lamacq on Radio
1, an Xfm session, gigs on tour with the likes of Mad Capsule
Markets and Sikth. "They make Slipknot sound like
newborn baby kittens pissing on perfumed cotton wool. Way
more subtle, layered and interesting. Think Amen, Sick
Of It All, Raging Speedhorn and This Mortal Coil" -
Metal Hammer. "If Slipknot heard Harpies they would
f**k off back to America with their tails between their
legs" - Rock Sound. "Harpies scale new cranium-busting
heights with their agresso-guitar ambush" -KERRANG! "(The
Harpies) turn in a brilliantly adrenalised rxhibition,
and, given time, we cam see them growing into some bizarre
hybrid of Slipknot and tATu." - PlayLouder. "Harpies.
are the band Sugarcoma briefly threatened to be. The full-on
twisted metallic aggression of a raw-as-hell Slipknot,
they have just that hint of vital X factor." - Organ. "Harpies
take polar opposites and run them full pelt at each other
just to watch the carnage. I confidently proclaim Nicky
Honey as possessing the dirtiest and sweetest voice on
the planet" - Logo.

Hefner
The Best of Hefner: 1996 - 2002
PS, UK 20-track collection of all the band's singles and
best loved tracks. Hefner were formed around 1996 though
Darren Hayman had been using the name for several years
previously. The original line up was Darren Hayman guitars/vocals,
John Morrison bass and Antony Harding drums. The band was
convened for the recording of Darren's debut single as
Hefner ' A Better Friend' and that recording marks only
the second time the three of them played together. The
single quickly gained the attention of Too Pure which remained
the home of the band throughout their career. The appeal
of Hefner has always lay in the lyrics and songs of Darren
Hayman, bittersweet vignettes on modern city life, he uses
the extra-ordinary and the everyday to tell erotic melancholy
tales that tug at your heart strings. Their first album
Breaking God's Heart, earned them a fan in the guise of
John Peel, which resulted in the band recording 6 sessions
for his Radio 1 show, including a live set at John's house.
In 1999 they achieved numbers 2 and 3 in his festive 50
with 'The Hymn for the Alcohol' and ' The Hymn for the
Cigarettes'. Their second album The Fidelity Wars, showed
a darker and sharper side to their sound and lyrics and remains the
favourite of fans and critics alike, however their biggest
selling album was their third; We Love The City. This album
found Hefner in a more upbeat mood augmenting their folk
tinged sound with brass, synthesizers and new member Jack
Hayter, contributing pedal steel, violin and guitar, and
included their most popular songs with 'Good Fruit', 'The
Greedy Ugly People' and 'The Day That Thatcher Dies'. Hefner's
last album showed them moving a new electronic direction
and is considered a curates egg by most, however Hefner's
popularity and self proclaimed status as Britain's Largest
Small Band was never in doubt as their last sell out show
at London's Shepherds Bush Empire showed. Hefner split
for no other reason then it seemed like it was a good time.
Track list: A Better Friend (original single version),
Christian Girls (original single version), Pull Yourself
Together (didgeridoo version), The Sweetness Lies Within,
The Sad Witch, Hello Kitten, Lee Remick, The Hymn for the
Cigarettes, The Hymn for the Alcohol, I Took Her Love for

I Am Robot And Proud
The Electricity In Your House Wants To Sing
PS, US I Am Robot And Proud is the name 26 year old Toronto
native Shaw-Han Liem works under to create his singular
brand of hypnotic, beguiling electronic pop music. The
Aptly titled, The Electricity In Your House Wants To Sing,
is the highly anticipated full-length follow-up to his
very popular 2003 album Grace Days (Catmobile). The Electricity
In Your House Wants To Sing is electronic pop music that
energizes the listener and refreshes the ear. It's syncopated
multi-instrumental rhythms and playful, repetitive multi-dimensional
melodies are just the elixir your head needs. Shaw-Han
mixes acoustic instrumentation; piano, flute, sax, guitar,
seamlessly with his unique electronic keyboard sounds and
percussive elements. This isn't difficult, experimental
IDM that pulls the listener off the left side of the dial.
This is complex composition that manages to simply delight.
It's an exciting sound that gives one the feeling of flying
fast & free through a heavenly modern green world of
pop, beauty, and sunshine. Your brain chemicals are sure
to be balanced after the first minute into the title track.
Track list: 1. The Electricity In Your House Wants To Sing,
2. When I Get My Ears, 3. The Work, 4. Save Your Neck,
Save Your Brother, 5. The Scholars and the Travelers, 6.
Neil Lake, 7. Me vs. Heidi, 8. Good Sleep, 9. A Man That
Runs Too Fast, 10. Places We're Trying To Find, 11. Center
Cities. "Liem works small miracles in the studio,
arranging tiny slivers of sound into glistening electropop
constructions that blend harmonic balance and stasis with
restless change and constant motion. Sounding bolder, and
with punchier sequencing on tracks like 'The Mood You're
In' and 'Mexico City', the only thing missing is the right
videogame to play along with it." -- THE WIRE. "No
matter how many machines are employed here, 'Grace Days'
is full of human heart. Slow and fragile, yet with a certain
joyful abandon, I Am Robot And Proud emits electro-pop
with playground beats and softly-stroked guitars, like
Isan lacing-up a pair of suitably dapper dancing shoes." --
COMES WITH A SMILE. "A beautiful collection of intricate
aural tapestries, bolstered by deep bass and pulsing rhythms.
From the deliciously slow grind of Winter at Night" to
the elegant glockenspiel odyssey of "Learn From Mistakes," Liem
dazzles the listener as much as he soothes. The perfect
soundtrack for counting stars, hot baths, or falling in
love with your computer." - EXCLAIM. "Fans of
Isan and Boards Of Canada should take note, this record
is as deserving of your attention as much as these well
known groups. The compositions are highly hypnotic, offering
a sleepy, dreamlike state using minimal techniques & infectious
chord structures. Robot achieve the rare task of producing
catchy pop songs while remaining blissful and chilled out.
Sublime in every way. One of those rare albums perfect
for any mood, whether it's for serious listening or simply
background music, you just can't fail with this package.
There's no overly long or tedious pieces, Robot have hit
on the right formula and utilise it well to their advantage.
A lovely album full of many surprises, which leave you
begging for more." --ANGRY APE. Cover art designed
by Shaw-Han Liem, I Am Robot And Proud.

PS, US The maestro of nu-trance brilliance & cosmic
kitsch returns with an album of beautiful, euphoric cadence.
It's the story of a man who left the earth to return to
a universe of expressive, unrestrained music that fully
embraces classic '90s trance euphoria. It seamlessly connects
to the history of his predecessors. This is the dream-filled
sound of one thousand and one flying sound carpets. Flickering

lifts to the stratospheres. It's music- become-feeling & MDMA

Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble
Self-Titled
PS, US Fresh from a 12-inch of Venetian Snares remixes,
THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE proudly present their
self-titled debut full-length. Their form of mutant jazz
slithers and slides, each song a delicately painful little
story of heartache, hope and perseverance. These are soundtracks
to non-existing movies, inspired by the worlds of Hieronymus
Bosch, Pablo Picasso, and Francisco Goya. JASON KOHNEN
(aka BONG-RA) and GIDEON KIERS started the group around
the turn of the century, creating new soundtracks to silent
movies like FW Murnau's Nosferatu and Fritz Lang's Metropolis.
Both graduates of the School of Arts, the audio/visual
concept behind the band grew to incorporate 'visual' music
performed alongside existing film fragments to intensify
the audio. Philadelphia filmakers and surrealist animators
The Quay Brothers were also a big influence on the duo's
early music. In 2004 HILARY JEFFREY began sitting in on
trombone, having performed previously with artists such
as Nick Bullen and Patrick Pulsinger. NINA HITZ and ED
LOMAN joined up shortly afterwarsds on cello and guitar
respectively and finally CHARLOTTE CEGARRA signed on as
an improv vocalist to round TKDE in to a full sextet, with
Kiers on drums, sequencing and visuals and Kohnen handling
bass, synths and sequencing.

Kinn
Karlshorst
PS, US KINN is a three piece band from Berlin: Guitar:
Frank Schültge Blumm whose releases on labels like
Staubgold, Tomlab and Audio Dregs go back to 1993, his
latest album ('Zweite Meer') came out on Morr Music in
2005. Bass: Marcel Türkowsky whose solo-Performances
as a tape-artist will soon find their way on a split LP
with 'Zeitkratzer' Reinhold Friedl on Bremen's Happy Zloty
label. Drums: Jan Thoben who released on Beau Rivage and
plays in bands like Gaston and Taunus. KINN build up analogue
loops and stumbling digital transformation with their instruments
and electronic extensions. They create a unique musical
suction; with which they achieve a wide range of dynamics
and modes. Polyrhythmic structures and tonally diverse
patterns flow in a sonic stream slowly morphing into rocky
passages and leaving off for chamber-club-music. On "Karlshorst" KINN
convincingly integrate field recordings into the rhythm
and tonality of their instrumental playing. "German
guitarist Frank Schültge Blumm and bassist Marcel
Türkowsky's Kinn project follows the styles of such
artists as John Fahey, Gastr Del Sol, Lennie Tristano and
This Heat, with a hint of Steve Reich and Erik Satie's
looping minimalism thrown in for good measure. Kinn is
a delight that recent converts of Steffen Basho-Junghans
and the rest of the recent experimental guitar solo scene
will find irresistible. Boosted by Türkowsky's simple
and expressive bass work, discreetly tempered with electronic
effects, Blumm's technique of allowing space to become
an integral part of his playing style gives the music room
to breathe and seep into the atmosphere. Rather than ending
up as just another Ambient exercise, however, Kinn's rich
palette of different tones and worldly musical influences
ensure listeners stay on their toes."

Koch, Tim
Faena
PS, US Faena marks Tim Koch's first full release on the
Merck label, but fifth solo album to date. After years
of extensive remix work for Merck, including ripping up
works by Machine Drum, Proem, Ilkae and Tiki Obmar, he
has finally settled in to a release of his own. Faena attempts
to distill the elements that have been featured in all
of Tim's previous releases, drawing on a broader range
of sounds including acoustic guitars, and female vocal
elements. The bulk of the album was written whilst on tour
in Europe in late 2004, with a cramped Antwerp loft acting
as a makeshift studio. The color and density of that experience
shows through in this batch of tracks from this prolific
Australian producer. Full of beautiful vocal textures and
electronically generated acoustic sounds blended with deep
grooves, rich harmonies and strong melodies. Yet another
quality IDM full length from the Merck camp. Limited to
1000.

Larsen's most orchestrated-ambient work so far, "SeieS" tends
to be quite a bit more song oriented. Tracks like The Snow,
Haula & Marzia are Larsen's most sinister compositions,
disturbing soundscapes that would fit very well in a David
Lynch movie. Features female vocals of ex-Swans chanteuse
Jarboe & beloved cello player & long time collaborator
Julia Kent (ANTONY & THE JOHNSONS). Housed in a deluxe
cardboard gatefold sleeve & printed on matte paper
to look almost as good as it sounds.

from Finian's den of iniquity in Brooklyn. Its got a classical

in some of these songs. There's also lonely despair. Written,

Motorpsycho
Black Hole/Blank Canvas [2CD]
PS, GERMANY Notorious Norwegian psych-pop-prog-rock juggernaut's
new album is finally here! Since Motorpsycho's last official
album 'It's Love Cult' (2002) our beloved trio shrank to
a duo with the departure of their longtime drummer, Hakon
Gebhardt. The remaining members, guitarist Hans Magnus "Snah" Ryan
and bassist Bent Saether, forge forever onwards, both continuing
to share vocal duties and Bent proving to be an extremely
accomplished drummer/percussionist. Not surprisingly, the
magick of Motorpsycho prevails. 'Black Hole/Blank Canvas'
harkens back to the band's early monumental guitar-rock
manifestations and the majestic rock of multiple early
nineties scenes are well represented here, without sacrificing
their affection for sixties-styled Beach Boys harmonies,
the seventies' Cosmic Americana and jam band action, and
the eighties' Paisley Underground. With two discs there's
a little bit of everything, and possibly more than one
kitchen sink. MOJO Magazine "Their yearly waxings
still manage to encapsulate their dazzling spectrum of
psych rock sound: West Coast pop, Sonic Youth, post-Rubber
Soul Beatles, Blue Afternoon-era Tim Buckley, all ages
of Floyd. While there's plenty of history here, it's always
re-envisaged by fresh eyes... Motorpsycho have got the
musical chops, they've got a brilliant, bizarre way with
songcraft (think Super Furries), all they require is your

Plants
The Mind is a Bird in the Hand
PS, US Portland, Oregon's Plants are a psychedelic folk
act that blend ethereal acoustic textures with melancholy
lyrical beauty; employing strings, organs, flutes and bells
they create a sound that's 'quietly intense', like the
sound of a storm in the distance. It's their own kind of
personal folk music for their an imagined world of half conscious dreams, living forests and mystical creatures.
The band is the brainchild of singer/guitarist, Josh Blanchard's
and cellist/pianist Molly Griffith's musical and romantic
partnership. Molly is classically trained in medieval music
and harpsichord and has played in the past with Portland
notables such as The Decemberists and 31 Knots. Joshua
has spent ten years crafting pop songs and hallucinatory
electronic pieces, from the acidic Point Line Plane (Skin
Graft) to previous efforts with avant-psychde band The
Mome Raths. Its their mutual love of things both very old
and very new that keeps the band fresh, as Plants collect
ideas from modern ambient composers, 60's acid folk voyages,
and ancient musical texts. Recorded one rain and whiskey
soaked Oregon springtime, the group's debut album "The
Mind is a Bird in the Hand" is an achingly restrained
and moody affair. From the brooding opener "Acorn
Child" to the closing chords of Fantasy-folker, "Invisible
Islands", the record explores themes of redemption
and turning darkness into light. The record hosts a great
cast of subtle guest performances by Michael Hendrickson
(Jackie O Motherfucker), Brian Foote (Nudge) and Jason
Buehler (Nice Nice) and is mastered by respected "folktronica" guru,
Greg Davis. "Plants play a mystical brand of psychedelic
folk whose solemn, droning beauty and stately pace recall
Six Organs of Admittance and Pearls Before Swine at their
most pastoral and intense." Dave Segal, The Stranger. "Plants
alchemize hazy, stoned, sylvan folk and ambient sound into
warm, shimmering, psychedelic gold." Adam Gnade, The
Portland Mercury.

Spoonbender 1.1.1
Stereo Telepathy Academy
PS, US The San Francisco-based SPOONBENDER 1.1.1 outlines
itself as the 'tele-ambient dream self' of the critically-acclaimed,
'populist avant-tronics and media group' I AM SPOONBENDER.
For Stereo Telepathy Academy, spoken text was taken from
one film, overlaid onto images from another film, and the
score was composed while viewing a third (and secret) film
source. The synchronistic results appear to be intentional.
As the images of DAVID CRONENBERG's rarely seen film Crimes
Of The Future flickered, Spoonbender 1.1.1 radiated an
inverted telekinetic minimalism of undulating tones supporting
the third piece of the puzzle: spoken text from Cronenberg's
Stereo, a faux-documentary detailing a surgical procedure
for the advancement of telepathic communication. The result
is a sort of Wizard Of Oz/Dark Side Of The Moon for the
mimetic engineering mindset. This marks the second of three
editions to be released. The first was an edition of 111,
documenting the aforementioned live performance; the second
is this edition of 333, sporting handsomely letterpressed
artwork, the third will be released as a unique art piece
in an edition of 3.

303s, The
Lines Of Parallel Minds (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 11TH)
PS, US Electronics, rock, ephemera, and mood make New Jersey's
The 303s an ingenious meld of power and fragility. Ingrid
Dahl and Parixit Davé learned most of their musical
savvy together, unknowingly creating their own reverb-eclectic
pop sound that resonates with intense attention to detail.
The 303s music overflows with loud yet sweet aural dialogues
that showcase Ingrid and Parixit's shared attractions to
anxiety, love, experimentation, and letdown amidst all
of their jarring guitars, complex rhythms, shoegazy fuzz,
and synthesizer harmonics. Lines of Parallel Minds, the
beautifully produced (by Stephen Hindman of Lismore) debut
album, creates something new: a fluid balance between lo-fi
and majestic, between careful and random, between indifference
and sincerity... The best of parallel like-minded minds.

Adamson, Barry
Stranger on the Sofa (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE JUNE 13TH)
PS, US New album of noir-ish film jazz from legendary composer & bassist
for MAGAZINE and NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS on his own
label. A DIY masterpiece picking up where "King of
Nothing Hill" left off. Darkly cinematic, with its
tale of future past, memories lost & dying love. Doesn't
shy away from sentimentality but leaves enough slack for
blistering prog work outs.

AFX (Aphex Twin)
Chosen Lords (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 18TH)
PS, Us Rather than release a 3 CD feat. all 41 Analord
tracks, AFX himself has distilled the tunes into a cohesive
album, as it was intended to be heard. It is, in fact,
the first full album of new material & the word is
that the tracks are among his very best. Largely recorded
on his private collection of analog synthesizers - vintage,
modern & home-made, the rhythms, melodies, harmonies, & even
some subliminal lyrics have all evolved directly from the
machines. Partly-inspired by NY electro, Chicago house & Detroit
techno classics, but the album also stimulates the kind
of "lucid dreaming" atmospherics found on "Selected
Ambient Works 85-92"

Aloha
Some Echoes (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 11TH)
PS, US Aloha loves a bit of everything (60's orchestral
pop, prog rock, 20th century composers, iconic songwriters),
but they don't dabble here and there. They meld it all
to make their own, unmistakable noise on this, their fourth
album. "Aloha makes warm, progressive rock with a
dreamy, resonant aftertaste. The early Genesis-inspired
four-piece has skillfully crafted an ambitious and intriguing
fusion of pop, punk, and jazz rock" - CNN. "A
perfect laser show soundtrack for the art school set" -
Entertainment Weekly.

Antena
Toujours Du Soleil (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 10TH)
PS, UK A brand new album from Antena - stylish French electro-bossa
pioneers whose debut Camino Del Sol is now an acknowledged
genre classic. Antena's groundbreaking mix of Kraftwerk,
Suicide and the breezy tropicalia of the Gilberto family
(Joao, Astrud and Bebel) sounds as fresh in 2006 as in
1982, when John Foxx produced their debut single, The Boy
From Ipanema, and future Pet Shop Boy Neil Tennant tagged
them 'electro-samba'. The label still applies, and echoes
of the Antena sound can be heard in artists as diverse
as Stereolab, Electralane and Thievery Corporation indeed
the latter duo co-wrote two of the thirteen songs on Toujours
du Soleil. The remixed Antena trio for 2006 consists of
main songwriter Isabelle Antena together with daughter
Penelope Fasy (replacing her father Sylvain) and hip Brussels
dj Axailes Solar. Conceived as a sequel to Camino Del Sol,
Toujours du Soleil (Always the Sun) was recorded on the
French Riviera and produced by Dr Drak, Shape and The Cool
Groove Sessions. Featuring a stellar cast of prestigious
international guests, the 2006 Antena trip takes you from
Paris to Tokyo, Goa to Washington CD. Stand-out tracks
include energetic stepper Le Spinner (already familiar
from the Samsonite ad campaign), future lounge classic
Toujours du Soleil and the electro-groovy Love is to Blame,
as well as a magical version of the laid-back America classic
Horse With No Name. "Essential 2005's most charming
musical surprise" (Mojo, December 2005).

Appleseed Cast
Peregrine (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 11TH)
PS, US The 6th studio album from this Lawrence, Kansas
band is a force to be reckoned with. An album equally well-suited
to both driving long distances watching scenery fly by
and lying around with a pair of good-quality headphones,
it's a dense and multi-textural forest of sound, full of
delicate nuances and nearly fathomless in its depth. Shifting
constellations of guitar and warm-sounding vocals are driven
forward by consistently compelling percussion, coming together
to form something very powerful.

Battiato, Franco
Pollution (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE MAY 23RD)
PS, US Franco Battiato's wonderfully lively 1973 concept
album Pollution is an audaciously psychedelic album drawn
from the space rock dimension with good portions of electronics
and keyboard layers. Drawing heavily on the VCS3 synthesizer,
Battiato and company (besides himself, three backing band
members play synth as well) give Pollution an extreme electronic
edge. With comparisons to Ash Ra Tempel, Faust, and Pink
Floyd, Pollution was declared "genius" by Frank
Zappa. Extremely influential on the '90s Chicago post-rock
mafia. Original artwork. New detailed liner notes.

Battisti, Lucio
Amore E Non Amore (PRE-ORDER: SALEABLE APRIL 25TH)
PS, US Considered one of the greatest Italian songwriters
for his ability to reach the primal core of emotional matters,
Battisti is held in the same regard in Italy as John Lennon
is in the English-speaking world. Aided instrumentally
by members of PFM (progressive Italian rockers named oddly
enough for a bakery) and guitarist Alberto Radius of Formula
Tre, Lucio Battisti made this much adored 1971 cult masterpiece.
Imagine Brazilian psych-pop combo Os Mutantes fronted by
Southern soul legend James Carr and you'll get a glimpse
of this inexplicably accomplished and adventurous album.

gypsy orchestra playing modern songs as mournful ballads & upbeat
marches, is actually the work of 19 year old Albuquerque
